Surron electric bike models 2027 split into four tiers, and the one with the best independent evidence for adults is the Ultra Bee HP: Cycle News tested it in June 2025 at a $6,499 MSRP, found it "right in the sweet spot" of the lineup, and rode the test bikes 250 and 600 miles without trouble. The Light Bee X, the model that made the brand famous, lists around $4,000 to $4,500 and is a lighter, quieter play bike; the Storm Bee is the heavy enduro model at $8,499 on launch; and the Hyper Bee is the new 2026 entry bike that the maker priced at $3,999 CAD. A Sur-Ron is not an e-bike. It has no pedals, it is not certified for US roads, and in California it has been an "off-highway electric motorcycle" since January 1, 2026.
This guide is a surron electric bike models comparison 2027 built from the few independent tests that exist, with the price conflicts shown rather than hidden, and an honest answer to what is the best electric dirt bike for adults. I also cover the law, because it decides where you can ride and whether a Sur-Ron is a good buy for you or your teenager.
I haven't ridden any of these bikes. Everything comes from Cycle News, Dirt Bike Test, RiderGuide, Bikebound, Electrek, Wikipedia, a California state parks bulletin and a UK government product safety report, plus maker and dealer pages that I label as claims. Prices are what those sources listed, not live prices. Checked October 9, 2026.

Sur-Ron electric bike models comparison 2027 at a glance#
Prices are what the named source listed and they differ. "Claim" means a maker or dealer figure, not a test.
| Model | Price (as listed) | Power and battery | Weight | Top speed | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee (2026) | $3,999 CAD, reduced from $4,499 CAD (maker, Canada) | 8 kW peak, 58 V 22 Ah | Not stated | 40 mph (claim) | Maker claims only |
| Light Bee X | $4,164 (2022 test); $4,400 (2022 test); $4,499 (2026 dealer listing) | 2026: 10 kW, 72 V 35 Ah (dealer); 2025: 8 kW, 60 V 40 Ah | About 125 to 130 lb | 46 to 50 mph (dealer) | Dirt Bike Test and Cycle News (2022 model) |
| Ultra Bee HP | $6,499 (Cycle News); $6,399 (RiderGuide) | 18 kW (21 kW Turbo), 74 V 60 Ah | 195 lb claimed; 187 lb (RiderGuide) | 59 mph | Cycle News June 2025 |
| Storm Bee F | $8,499 (2022 launch) | 10 kW rated, 22.5 kW peak, 104 V 55 Ah | 280 lb | 68 mph (claim) | Cycle News pre-production test, Oct 2022 |
My rule: start from the rider's size and where you can legally ride. A Light Bee X suits a smaller rider or a property; an adult who wants a trail bike should look at the Ultra Bee HP or a rival.
How I chose these bikes and what the sources did#
There are few full independent tests of Sur-Ron bikes, and most are dated. Here is what I used and its limits:
- Cycle News tested the 2025 Ultra Bee HP (June 25, 2025), the pre-production Storm Bee F in a hard enduro event (October 13, 2022) and the 2022 Light Bee X (July 28, 2022).
- Dirt Bike Test tested the 2022 Light Bee X with riders of 130 to 180 lb.
- RiderGuide (updated October 7, 2026) lists six electric dirt bikes it says it tested in 2026, including the Ultra Bee HP, but publishes no numeric scores.
- Bikebound (dated January 22, 2026) compares nine bikes but states no test method, and its own table conflicts with its text in several places, so I use it only for context.
- Wikipedia's Sur-Ron page has the lineup table, but it carries a maintenance banner saying it relies excessively on its sources, so I treat it as a guide, not a final word.
- Maker and dealer pages (Sur-Ron Canada for the Hyper Bee, a US dealer for the Light Bee X) give specs I label as claims.
I cannot compare tested range across these sources, because riders, terrain and modes differ.
The Sur-Ron lineup in plain English#
Wikipedia's Sur-Ron page says Chongqing Qiulong Technology started the company in December 2014 in China, launched the first Light Bee in March 2018 and added the Ultra Bee and Storm Bee in 2022. Its lineup table shows:
| Model | Launched | Battery | Peak power | Top speed | Road status per Wikipedia |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee | 2025 | 2025: 52 V 22 Ah; 2026: 58 V 22 Ah | 8,000 W | 40 mph | Not road legal |
| Light Bee S | 2018, discontinued 2025 | 50.4 V 26 Ah | 3,500 W | 31 mph | Not road legal |
| Light Bee X | 2018 | 2026: 72 V 35 Ah; earlier: 60 V 40 Ah | 2026: 10,000 W; 2025: 8,000 W; before: 6,000 W | 46 mph | EU road-legal version exists (8 hp); the 10.7 hp version is not |
| Light Bee L1E | 2018 | Same as Light Bee X | 6,000 W | 46 mph | Road legal in the EU |
| Ultra Bee | 2022 | 74 V 60 Ah | 2025: 21,000 W; earlier North America: 12,500 W | 59 mph | EU/homologation only |
| Storm Bee | 2022 | 104 V 55 Ah | 22,500 W | 68 mph | Homologation only |
Wikipedia adds that as of 2025 the Light Bee X, Ultra Bee and Storm Bee are not NHTSA certified for road use in the United States. The L1E is the road-legal European variant, and Electrify News says it is not sold in the US.
What the model names mean in practice. The Light Bee line is the lightweight pit-bike class. The Ultra Bee is the full-size trail bike. The Storm Bee is the heavy enduro bike. The Hyper Bee is the new smaller-battery model aimed at younger riders, according to the maker.
Sur-Ron Light Bee X: the lightweight original#
Specs. Dealer Radmoto lists a 2026 Light Bee X with a 10 kW motor, a 72 V 35 Ah battery, a top speed of up to 50 mph, about 217 ft-lb of peak wheel torque and a weight of about 130 lb. The 2025 version is listed at 8 kW, 60 V 40 Ah, up to 46 mph and about 125.6 lb. The same page warns not to assume parts interchange between model years. Those are dealer figures, not tests.
What the 2022 tests found.
- Dirt Bike Test ($4,164 MSRP, 125 lb): low 40s mph in Sport mode, 29 mph in Eco, 20 to 30 miles on trails, 20 miles or less at full throttle on road, and over 40 miles below 20 mph. It charged in a little under four hours on 120 V. Pros: very quiet, good torque, much lighter than gas bikes, easy for beginners. Cons: weak brakes, inconsistent throttle response near zero speed, brittle stock plastics, small footpegs with little grip, a skid plate that dented and a seat that did not hold up, plus "cramped for adult riders and twitchy at speed." Its verdict: "a real hoot" as a play bike, with durability that falls short of typical dirt bike standards.
- Cycle News ($4,400, claimed 110 lb): called it fun, quiet and simple to maintain, with strong suspension and brakes but a soft stock tune for aggressive riding and uncertain craftsmanship after a short test. It notes its test bike shipped governed to 16 mph and that the 45 to 50 mph figure needed a software change. I don't cover that here, and it could matter for where you can ride legally.
Price note. The same US dealer page shows $4,499 for both regular and sale price, with every variant sold out, while its page metadata says $3,999. I would treat anything between $3,999 and $4,500 as the range to check.
My view: the Light Bee X is the right Sur-Ron for a teenager's property bike or a small adult who values quiet and weight. For a full-size adult, the tests suggest it is small.
Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP: best Sur-Ron for adults#
The Ultra Bee HP is the Sur-Ron with the strongest independent evidence. Cycle News reviewed the 2025 model on June 25, 2025.
- Price: $6,499 MSRP, the same as the 2023 Ultra Bee. RiderGuide lists $6,399 from a dealer (Voro Motors) with a one-year warranty.
- Power and battery: 18 kW (about 24 hp) in Sport mode, up from 12.5 kW, and 21 kW with Turbo; 377 lb-ft of torque; a 74 V 60 Ah battery. RiderGuide's text says 21 kW while its table says 24.5 kW, and Wikipedia says 21,000 W, so the headline power depends on mode and source.
- Size: 195 lb claimed ready to ride (RiderGuide lists 187 lb), a 35.8 in seat height, 12.4 in ground clearance, 19 in front and 18 in rear wheels, a 37 mm inverted fork and a monoshock with about 9.4 in of travel, and 240 mm hydraulic discs.
- Speed and range: a listed top speed of 59 mph; Sur-Ron claims 71 miles of range. Cycle News' intermediate riders got over 2.5 hours and up to 60 miles on trails. Charging was 2.5 hours from 20 to 80% and 4 hours from empty, which matched their experience on a 110 V charger.
- Durability: over 250 miles on the 2025 test bike and over 600 on a 2024 bike, with no issues.
What Cycle News liked: significantly more power with better throttle modulation in slippery conditions, predictable brakes that never faded, a reverse mode, an 18 in rear wheel, a light weight and low seat for a full-size off-road bike, and low maintenance with no clutch, gears or oil changes.
What it didn't: Turbo mode is not recommended (it lasts 10 seconds and caused control issues); no rim locks, so the tire spun on the rim; shorter suspension travel than high-performance off-road bikes (nearly 12 in); a left-hand rear brake lever that takes adjustment; range that did not improve on 2024; and charging away from home needs a generator.
RiderGuide names it the best full-size off-road electric dirt bike of its six. My view: this is the Sur-Ron to buy if you are an adult who wants a trail bike, with the caveat that it costs about as much as some gas trail bikes.
Sur-Ron Storm Bee: the heavy enduro model#
The Storm Bee launched in 2022 as the top of the range. Cycle News tested a pre-production Storm Bee F on October 13, 2022 and listed $8,499 (off-road only in North America).
- Specs: a liquid-cooled motor rated at 10 kW with 22.5 kW (about 30 hp) peak, 520 Nm of torque, a 104 V 55 Ah battery, a claimed 68 mph top speed, 47 mm inverted fork and adjustable monoshock with 290 mm travel, 21 in front and 18 in rear wheels, and a 37 in seat. Listed weight is 280 lb and maximum load 220 lb.
- Range: the claim is about 75 miles; Cycle News gives it as 75 miles at 31 mph, while Electrek's launch article says about 120 km (75 miles) at a steady 40 km/h (25 mph), so the conditions differ. In the test, the bike ran about two hours of hard enduro and still had power left.
- Pros: competitive price for a full-size electric enduro bike, strong low-end torque, quiet, traction control and a Turbo button, and it survived a demanding event without breakage.
- Cons: heavy and prone to tipping because of the battery position, footpeg placement that felt unresponsive, wheels that felt heavy, awkward fasteners and range below a gas trail bike. The test bike was pre-production, and the battery voltage had increased from 90 V to 104 V.
I could not find a 2025 or 2026 test, so check the current price and specs. For most adults, the lighter Ultra Bee HP is the easier bike to live with.
Sur-Ron Hyper Bee: the new 2026 entry model#
The Hyper Bee is the newest model, and I found no independent test. Sur-Ron Canada announced the 2026 version on March 20, 2026, and its claims are:
- 8 kW peak power and 136 ft-lb of torque at the drive wheel
- a 58 V 22 Ah battery (about 1,276 Wh by my calculation)
- up to 35 miles of range at 25 mph, 20 to 80% charging in about 2 hours and a 40 mph top speed
- a price from $3,999 CAD, reduced from $4,499 CAD
- standard SAWC anti-wheelie control and a connectivity system
The maker describes it as for "the next generation of riders," without an age range. I could not find a US price. Wikipedia's table lists the 2025 version with a 52 V 22 Ah battery and the 2026 version with 58 V 22 Ah.
Sur-Ron electric bike price 2027: what the sources show#
Anyone searching for a sur ron electric bike price 2027 (or a surron electric bike price 2027, spelled as one word) will find numbers that disagree. Here is every price I found, with its date and source.
| Model | Price | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee | $3,999 CAD (from $4,499 CAD) | Sur-Ron Canada, March 2026 (maker) |
| Light Bee X | $4,164 | Dirt Bike Test, 2022 MSRP |
| Light Bee X | $4,400 | Cycle News, July 2022 MSRP |
| Light Bee X | $4,499 listed, $3,999 in page metadata; all variants sold out | US dealer, 2026 |
| Ultra Bee HP | $6,499 | Cycle News, June 2025 MSRP |
| Ultra Bee HP | $6,399 | RiderGuide, Oct 2026 (dealer) |
| Storm Bee F | $8,499 | Cycle News and Electrek, Oct 2022 |
So the surron electric bike price 2027 range is roughly $4,000 to $4,500 for the Light Bee X, about $6,400 to $6,500 for the Ultra Bee HP and $8,499 or more for the Storm Bee, with the Hyper Bee at about $4,000 CAD. A dealer builds or assembles the bike for an extra fee in some cases: the dealer I read charges $250 for "Built & Ready to Ride" assembly.
Remember that these are US or Canadian prices, and that import and dealer markups, extra batteries, upgrades and taxes can change the total. I haven't seen a current manufacturer price list, so confirm with an authorized dealer.
Sur-Ron vs other electric dirt bikes: what is the best electric dirt bike for adults?#
What is the best electric dirt bike for adults? It depends on size, budget and where you will ride. RiderGuide and Bikebound give the competitor context, with the caveat that their prices and specs conflict.
| Bike | Price | Power | Weight | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP | $6,399 to $6,499 | 18 to 24.5 kW | 187 to 195 lb | Best full-size pick at RiderGuide |
| Heybike Villain | $1,299 | 4.1 kW, 45 mph | 125 lb | RiderGuide; a cheap option |
| Aptum VM1 | $999 (headline) or $1,199 (spec list) | 3 kW, 37 mph | 105 lb | RiderGuide |
| Juiced Nomadix | $2,499 | 15 kW, 50+ mph | 160 lb | RiderGuide |
| NIU XQi3 | $3,999 or $4,499 | 10.6 kW, 50 mph | 168 lb | RiderGuide; Outdoor Life lists $4,999 |
| Segway X260 | About $3,000 to $3,500 | About 6.7 hp | 117 lb in text, 200 to 220 lb in table | Bikebound; conflicts |
| Talaria Sting R MX4 | About $4,500 to $6,000 | About 10.7 hp | About 145 to 155 lb | Bikebound; no test method |
| Stark Varg MX 1.2 | About $12,500 to $13,500 | About 60 to 80 hp | About 260 lb | Bikebound; the high end |
My picks, which are judgment based on the above:
- Best overall full-size electric dirt bike for most adults: the Ultra Bee HP, because it has the most independent evidence and a full-size chassis.
- Best for a smaller adult or a light property bike: a Light Bee X, accepting the durability notes from the 2022 test.
- Best on a tight budget: the sub-$2,000 options at RiderGuide, which I haven't compared in detail and whose warranty is shorter than the pricier ones.
- Best for racing-level power: a Stark Varg, at three times the Ultra Bee price.
My fastest electric bikes guide covers pedal e-bikes, and my hunting e-bike guide lists the UBCO and other motorized options. For other brands' electric models, see my guides to Yamaha and KTM electric bikes.
Is a Sur-Ron street legal? US and California rules#
No Sur-Ron I found is street legal in the US as sold. The reasoning:
- Not an e-bike. Wikipedia's e-bike law summary says US federal law defines a low-speed electric bicycle as having working pedals, a motor under 750 W and a motor-only top speed under 20 mph. A Sur-Ron has no pedals and a motor several times the limit, so it does not fit the three e-bike classes. Electrify News makes the same point and says the stock motors start above 3,000 W.
- Not certified for roads. Wikipedia says the Light Bee X, Ultra Bee and Storm Bee were not NHTSA certified for road use in the US as of 2025.
- California is explicit. A California state parks bulletin says SB 586 was signed on October 10, 2025 and took effect January 1, 2026. It defines an "off-highway electric motorcycle" as two-wheeled, electric, with handlebars, a straddle seat and no pedals from the manufacturer, and lists Sur-Ron, Talaria and similar brands as examples. These need a California Green Sticker and DMV off-highway registration to ride on public OHV lands; they cannot be ridden on highways, streets, sidewalks, bike paths or bike lanes; and the bulletin says it is now a crime to advertise, sell or label them as electric bicycles. Read the full state bulletin.
Enforcement elsewhere is catching up. Electrek reported on September 29, 2026 (an opinion piece) that police in Oviedo, Florida cited an 11-year-old on a Sur-Ron-style bike for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and towed it; police said it could reach about 50 mph while the boy's father said it was limited to 20 mph. An August 2026 AP story on children hurt on e-bikes and e-motorcycles says injuries among children are rising, that riders on these vehicles are more severely injured than on pedal bikes, and that prosecutors in Orange County, California have more than two dozen open investigations into parents. A New York bill (S10700, introduced September 14, 2026) would ban sales of e-motos that cannot be registered and go faster than 20 mph, and bar misleading advertising as e-bikes; it was in committee as of October 7, 2026 and is not law.
If you want to ride on roads, read my guide on riding an electric dirt bike on the road. I'm not a lawyer, so check your state's rules and your insurer before buying.
Buying a Sur-Ron safely: dealers, counterfeits, parts and age#
- Buy from an authorized dealer. A UK government product safety report records a counterfeit "Surron" electric motorcycle (model QL4000DY-A) that was imported, rated a serious fire risk and rejected at the border and destroyed. It found no valid technical documentation or evidence of production control, and the documents spelled the brand "Surron" rather than "Sur-Ron." Sur-Ron told the authorities that genuine UK products are sold only through its website. That is a UK finding, but the lesson applies anywhere: verify the seller. Read the report.
- Check the warranty. RiderGuide lists one year on the Ultra Bee HP. Ask what a dealer covers on the battery.
- Don't assume parts interchange. The dealer page I read warns that parts differ between Sur-Ron models and generations.
- Expect to upgrade some parts. The 2022 tests mention small footpegs, soft suspension tuning, brittle plastics and a dented skid plate on the Light Bee X, and Cycle News wanted rim locks on the Ultra Bee HP.
- Charging. Cycle News reports 4 hours to full on a 110 V charger for the Ultra Bee HP. I haven't verified battery certification for any Sur-Ron; ask the dealer for the safety documents.
- Age and size. Neither Sur-Ron nor the sources give a firm age guide. The Light Bee X was called cramped for adults, and AP's reporting is a reminder that children have been seriously hurt on powerful e-motorcycles. Check local rules on minimum age and riding locations before buying one for a child.
Frequently asked questions#
What are the surron electric bike models 2027?#
The current lineup includes the Hyper Bee, Light Bee X, Light Bee L1E (European road-legal version), Ultra Bee and Storm Bee. The Light Bee S was discontinued in 2025, according to Wikipedia.
Which is the best Sur-Ron for adults?#
The Ultra Bee HP, based on Cycle News' 2025 test and RiderGuide's pick as best full-size model. The Light Bee X was called cramped for adults in a 2022 test.
How much does a Sur-Ron cost?#
About $4,000 to $4,500 for the Light Bee X, about $6,400 to $6,500 for the Ultra Bee HP and $8,499 for the Storm Bee at its 2022 launch. The Hyper Bee is $3,999 CAD in Canada. Prices vary by source.
What is the sur ron electric bike price 2027 for the cheapest model?#
The Hyper Bee at $3,999 CAD is the lowest I found from the maker, with no US price located. The Light Bee X is around $3,999 to $4,499 in the US depending on the listing.
What is the best electric dirt bike for adults?#
For a full-size adult, the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP has the most independent evidence. Cheaper options exist (Segway X260, Heybike Villain) but I found less testing of them.
Is a Sur-Ron an e-bike?#
No. It has no pedals and a far larger motor than the 750 W federal limit, so it doesn't fit the e-bike classes. California calls it an off-highway electric motorcycle.
Is a Sur-Ron street legal?#
Not as sold in the US. Wikipedia says the Light Bee X, Ultra Bee and Storm Bee are not NHTSA certified for road use. The Light Bee L1E is a road-legal European version.
Do I need to register a Sur-Ron in California?#
A California state parks bulletin says SB 586 requires a Green Sticker and DMV off-highway registration for these bikes on public OHV lands, effective January 1, 2026.
How fast is a Sur-Ron?#
Listed top speeds are 46 to 50 mph for the Light Bee X, 59 mph for the Ultra Bee HP, 68 mph for the Storm Bee and 40 mph for the Hyper Bee. Those are claims or listings except where a test says otherwise.
How far does a Sur-Ron go on a charge?#
Cycle News' riders got over 2.5 hours and up to 60 miles on the Ultra Bee HP. Dirt Bike Test got 20 to 30 miles of trail riding on the 2022 Light Bee X. Range varies by mode and rider.
Can you buy a Sur-Ron safely online?#
Use an authorized dealer. A UK report found a counterfeit Sur-Ron import with no conformity evidence and a serious fire risk, so verify the seller and ask for documentation.
The bottom line#
After this surron electric bike models comparison 2027, and for buyers working through the lineup, my shortlist is simple. Buy the Ultra Bee HP if you are an adult who wants a trail bike and can pay about $6,400 to $6,500. Choose the Light Bee X if you want a lighter, cheaper bike for a property or a smaller rider, and accept the durability notes. Treat the Storm Bee as the heavy specialist and the Hyper Bee as unproven until someone tests it. In every case, check the price with an authorized dealer, ride only where it is legal, and don't call it an e-bike.
Prices, models and laws change, so check the current price on the dealer's page and your state's rules before you buy. Since I haven't ridden these bikes, treat my picks as a well-sourced shortlist and read a hands-on review of the one you choose.
