  11. 11.The bottom line

You cannot buy a new Yamaha electric bike in the US any more, and that changes how to read every "2027 yamaha electric bike" guide. Yamaha told US dealers in late 2024 that it would stop wholesaling e-bikes at the end of that year. A June 2026 trade interview reports that wholesaling of Yamaha-branded e-bikes ended at the close of 2025, that the Wabash and the other models are out of production, and that Japan is the only place you can buy one. What is still alive is Yamaha's motor business, and used or leftover bikes with a five-year warranty that Yamaha says it will keep honouring.

So this guide does two jobs. It tells you what a Yamaha electric bike 2027 shopper can actually do, and it collects the independent test results for the bikes people still ask about: the CrossCore RC, the Wabash RT and the YDX-Moro 07. Where sources disagree on a price or a spec, I show both numbers instead of choosing one.

I haven't ridden any of these bikes. Everything below comes from Gear Patrol, road.cc, Electric Bike Report, Singletrack, eBikes International, Electrek, Bikerumor, MBR, Bicycle Retailer and BRAIN, Cycling Industry News and Bike Magazin, plus Yamaha's Japanese press release. Prices are what those sources listed in the year they wrote, not live prices. Checked October 10, 2026.

Yamaha electric bike 2027: can you still buy one?#

Short version by region, using what the sources say:

  • United States. No new bikes from Yamaha. The US arm told dealers it would leave the e-bike business and stop selling units to them at the end of 2024. BRAIN reported just under 400 US e-bike dealers at that point.
  • Europe. road.cc reported in October 2022 that Yamaha had developed three own-brand e-bikes for selected European markets, having previously sold only motors there. Cycling Industry News reported in June 2026 that Yamaha has since stepped back to motors so as not to compete with the brands that buy them.
  • Japan. The one place Yamaha-branded e-bikes can still be bought, according to the June 2026 Cycling Industry News report. Yamaha's Japanese press release announced a 2026 PAS CHEER city model with a new 10.2 Ah battery, on sale April 18, 2026.
  • Everywhere else. Yamaha motors sit inside other brands' bikes, which is the practical route if you want Yamaha technology.

If you are searching for a 2027 yamaha electric bike to buy new, the honest answer is that there isn't one in the US. Your real options are a used or leftover bike, or a different brand with a Yamaha motor.

The motor business is the part that is growing. In that same June 2026 report, Yamaha said demand for motors stabilised in 2025, especially in Germany, and that it chose to "focus our efforts and not bother our OEM customers with competing products".

How I chose these bikes and what the sources did#

I covered every Yamaha-branded model that had independent coverage I could read: the CrossCore RC, the Wabash RT and the YDX-Moro 07. I also list the Civante, but only a competitor's spec table mentions it and I found no independent test, so I flag it as unverified.

Three rules I followed:

  1. Tested and claimed numbers stay separate. Electric Bike Report weighed the Moro 07 and rode a measured loop; most of the other numbers are Yamaha's.
  2. Different testers, different methods. A road.cc range note, an Electric Bike Report loop and a Yamaha claim are not the same thing, so I never merge them.
  3. Conflicts stay visible. Two sources give different motor names and top speeds for the same bike. I show both and say why they might differ.

The tests are also old. Most were published between 2022 and 2024, before the US exit, so they tell you how the bikes rode, not what support looks like today.

Reasons Yamaha gave in the dealer letter: post-COVID oversupply across the bicycle industry and a significant softening of the market that made a sustainable e-bike business "extremely difficult". Electrek added that Yamaha's higher prices made it harder to compete with cheaper bikes; that is Electrek's observation, not Yamaha's.

One date conflict: Bicycle Retailer said the Brose deal was expected to complete by June 2025, while Bike Magazin said it became official on August 1, 2025. I use the later report for completion.

Yamaha CrossCore RC and Civante: the commuter bikes#

The CrossCore RC is the city and fitness bike. The independent evidence is thin, and the sources disagree on the details.

Gear Patrol (May 2022)road.cc (Oct 2022)eBikes International (Sept 2024)
MotorPWSeries STPW-ST, 70 NmPW Series S2, 250 W, 75 Nm
Battery500 Wh500 Wh500 Wh, 36 V
Weight52 lbnot stated23.5 kg (51.8 lb)
Top assisted speednot statednot stated32 km/h
Price$3,099not confirmed$3,799 (currency not stated)

What I take from it:

  • The weight agrees across two testers at about 52 lb.
  • The motor name differs (PW-ST versus PW Series S2) and so does the torque (70 versus 75 Nm). Yamaha updated its drive units over those years (Electrek's guide dates a PW-S2 update to September 2022), so I treat the 2024 figures as the latest.
  • The top speed differs because of the market. Electrek's Yamaha guide says the 2022 US CrossCore RC and Wabash RT were rated at 28 mph. The 2024 test came from a Toronto commuter, and 32 km/h is about 20 mph, which matches the usual Canadian limit. I haven't confirmed that the cap was the reason.
  • Price depends on year and country. $3,099 in 2022 and $3,799 in 2024 may be different currencies and different model years.

Gear Patrol's tester called the CrossCore RC comfortable and "nimble" for its weight, and said Automatic mode let the rider focus on traffic. The eBikes International tester called the motor very quiet and smooth, braking strong in wet and dry, and found the bike easy to lift with one hand. That article listed no cons, which is a reason to read it as a positive first impression, not a full review.

The Civante is the road version. The only specs I found come from a competitor's page (PW-ST, 70 Nm, 500 Wh, 28 mph). I found no independent test, so I can't say how it rides.

Check the current price if any retailer still lists one.

Yamaha Wabash RT: the gravel e-bike#

The Wabash RT is the drop-bar gravel model, and it has the clearest critical review.

road.cc's Rebecca Bland reviewed it on June 16, 2024 and scored it 7/10 at £3,100. Her notes:

  • Good: a smooth, quiet motor and wide tyre clearance.
  • Bad: poor value against rivals she named (Cairn BRAVe 2.0 Flat Bar at £2,359, Cairn E-Adventure at £2,489, Boardman ADV 8.9E at £2,799); a stiff, unreliable dropper post; a cheap-feeling display; a slight lurch when pedal pressure is applied after stopping; and not enough top-end power on steep, technical climbs.
  • Range: a 15-mile ride, mostly in the highest assist, used three of ten battery bars, and the display then showed about 30 miles left. She cautioned that range varies with terrain and riding style, so I treat this as one rider's note, not a range figure.

The listed specs are a PW-ST motor, a 500 Wh battery, Shimano GRX 11-speed with a 44-tooth chainring and 11-42 cassette, GRX hydraulic brakes and 45 mm tyres. road.cc printed the weight as "21.40g", which I read as a typo for 21.4 kg; I couldn't confirm it.

Gear Patrol, in May 2022, listed the Wabash RT at $4,099 and said that after a day in Eco and Standard modes over 75% of the battery remained. Its tester liked the wider flared handlebar and said the bike performed about as well on trails as on roads.

The two reviews agree on a pleasant motor. They differ on value, which is partly a gap between a 2022 US launch review and a 2024 UK one.

Check the current price if any retailer still lists one.

Yamaha YDX-Moro 07: the e-mountain bike#

The Moro 07 is the Yamaha with the best independent testing, and the only one where a tester weighed the bike and rode a measured loop.

ItemClaimedTested
MotorPW-X3, 250 W nominal, 500 W max, 85 Nmnot measured
Battery500 Whnot measured
Weight51.36 lb (medium)52.1 lb
ClassClass 1, 20 mph assistnot measured
Rangeblank in the spec sheet19.24 miles with 2,131 ft of climbing in 1 hour 46 minutes

Electric Bike Report's Griffin Hales ran the range test in the highest assist mode on a singletrack loop, averaged about 11 mph and called it one of his shorter range results. He found the motor strong at the start of short climbs of about a third of a mile, but it levelled off on longer climbs of about a mile. He praised the balanced handling from the battery position between the downtube halves, the RockShox Lyrik 160 mm fork, Magura MT5 brakes, and the five assist levels plus adaptive and walk-assist modes. He disliked the oversized display and the lack of bottle cage mounts, and called the bike more all-mountain or cross-country than enduro. His verdict: "a great jack of all trades all-mountain ride".

Singletrack's reviewer tested the 30th Anniversary version for three months at £4,350 and listed impressive suspension, a great motor and strong all-round handling. The page excerpt I could read cut off before the cons and the score, so I can't report them.

Price is where sources differ most. Electric Bike Report's headline cites roughly $2,599, a figure I couldn't tie to a list price. Singletrack's £4,350 is a UK price for a special edition. MBR included the Moro 7 in its best budget e-bikes test. These can all be true because of clearance sales, currencies and trims.

Check the current price if any retailer still lists one.

Yamaha motors in other brands' bikes#

If you want Yamaha technology in 2027, the motor route is the live one. Yamaha has made e-bike motors since 1993, and in 2024 Bikerumor reported that Giant and Liv still used Yamaha SyncDrive motors in premium e-mountain bikes. Yamaha declined to say whether it would keep supplying other frame makers, but the 2026 reports say it is concentrating on exactly that.

Bike Magazin (June 2025) listed the PW-Link range, all 48 V:

MotorMax torqueWeightUse
PW-X4100 Nm2.6 kgTop e-mountain bike motor
PW-L160 Nmabout 2 kgLight e-bikes and gravel
PW-S360 to 85 Nm by variant2.8 kgAll-rounder (Standard, Easy, Cargo)

Its integrated batteries are 842 Wh (4.35 kg) and 560 Wh (3.1 kg), and the market launch was planned for spring and summer 2026. That article named no bike makers. Cycling Industry News in June 2026 listed only three drive units (PW-X4, PW-S3 and the modular PW-Link system), made in France, Japan and Taiwan, with partners including Raymon, Hero Cycles' InSync brand and Decathlon. The two lists differ on whether the PW-L1 is separate, so check the exact motor on any bike you consider.

Yamaha also bought Brose's e-bike drive business in 2025, and Bike Magazin said Brose's Qore models now sit in Yamaha's range. Since 2025 Yamaha has run direct-to-dealer after-sales in Europe, starting in France.

To check a bike you like, look for the motor name in the spec sheet. Motors alone don't make a bike good: the road.cc Wabash review shows a pleasant Yamaha motor in a bike the tester still scored 7/10. For brand context, see my best electric bike brands guide.

Buying a used or leftover Yamaha safely#

The Fan Promotion offered up to 60% off a new Yamaha e-bike plus cashback of up to $3,900, for units retailed and warranty-registered through June 30, 2025. BRAIN also reported most online inventory was gone. That window has closed, so what you find now is leftover stock or a used bike.

What Yamaha has committed to, according to its dealer letter and BRAIN:

  • A limited 5-year warranty covering the drive unit, battery, frame and rigid forks, honoured for the period agreed at purchase.
  • Parts, service and customer support in the US, with Electrek reporting "at least five more years" of support for bikes already sold.
  • Fixed labour reimbursement to dealers for warranty repairs.

What I could not find: whether the warranty transfers to a second owner, and how parts supply looks in late 2026. One June 2024 reader comment on Electric Bike Report claimed parts weren't stocked in California and support was slow; that is a single user's experience from before the exit, not an official statement.

A checklist before you pay:

  1. Ask for the original receipt and warranty registration. Warranty depends on the original purchase.
  2. Confirm the model year and motor name so you can match parts.
  3. Ask for battery age and charge history. I haven't verified any Yamaha battery condition tests.
  4. Call a local dealer and ask if they will still service the bike.
  5. Compare against a new bike. A discount matters less if service is uncertain.

Yamaha electric bike 2027: which one fits you?#

Based on the tests above, and remembering I haven't ridden any of them:

  • For trail riding: the Moro 07, if you find one at a clear discount and a dealer will service it. Its tested weight, handling and parts earned the best independent notes, and its range on a hard singletrack loop was short.
  • For gravel: the Wabash RT has a pleasant motor but a mixed 7/10 review, a dropper that road.cc found unreliable and a price criticised as poor value.
  • For commuting: the CrossCore RC has the most consistent praise (comfort, quiet motor, light for an e-bike), but its specs vary by source, so confirm the exact version.
  • If you want a current, supported bike: buy a different brand, or pick a bike with a Yamaha PW motor and check the motor name in the specs. Start with my best electric bikes guide.
  • If you want an e-motorcycle instead of a pedal bike, that is a different category. See my KTM electric bikes and Sur-Ron electric bike models guides.

Frequently asked questions#

Does Yamaha still make electric bikes?#

Yamaha still makes e-bike motors and systems. For complete bikes, Cycling Industry News reported in June 2026 that Yamaha-branded e-bikes are only sold in Japan, and that wholesaling of the others ended at the close of 2025.

Why did Yamaha stop selling e-bikes in the US?#

Yamaha's dealer letter cited post-COVID oversupply and a significant softening of the market that made a sustainable business extremely difficult. Electrek added that higher prices made it harder to compete.

Can I still buy a new 2027 yamaha electric bike?#

Not from Yamaha in the US. You might find leftover stock at a dealer, but the Fan Promotion discounts ended for sales after June 30, 2025.

Is Yamaha warranty still valid on e-bikes sold in the US?#

Yamaha said it would honour the limited 5-year warranty for bikes already sold and provide parts and service. I couldn't confirm how it works for a second owner, so ask a dealer.

What is the best Yamaha electric bike?#

For independent evidence, the YDX-Moro 07 e-mountain bike, which Electric Bike Report tested at 52.1 lb and 19.24 miles on a hard singletrack loop. It is no longer made.

How good are Yamaha e-bike motors?#

Testers praised them as quiet and smooth. Electric Bike Report found the PW-X3 strong at low cadence but levelling off on longer climbs, and road.cc found the Wabash RT short of top-end power on steep technical climbs.

Which brands use Yamaha motors?#

Reports name Giant and Liv (SyncDrive, 2024), and in 2026 Raymon, Hero Cycles' InSync and Decathlon. Always check the motor name on the exact bike.

How far does a Yamaha e-bike go on a charge?#

Yamaha claimed 50 to 140 km on the CrossCore RC. The only measured figure I found is the Moro 07's 19.24 miles on a hard singletrack loop in highest assist.

What speed does a Yamaha e-bike reach?#

Electrek's guide says the 2022 US CrossCore RC and Wabash RT were rated at 28 mph, while the Moro 07 is Class 1 at 20 mph. A 2024 Canadian test listed 32 km/h.

Is Yamaha selling e-bikes in Europe?#

Yamaha sold bikes in Europe from 2022 but, per Cycling Industry News in June 2026, now focuses on supplying motors to bike brands.

Does Yamaha make an electric motorcycle I can buy?#

That is outside this guide. The sources I read cover pedal-assist bikes. For electric motorcycles see my KTM and Sur-Ron guides.

The bottom line#

If you are shopping for a yamaha electric bike 2027 style purchase, the real situation is that Yamaha-branded bikes are gone from the US and the technology lives on in motors. Buy a used Moro 07, CrossCore RC or Wabash RT only if the price is clearly lower and a local dealer will service it. Otherwise buy a bike from a brand that is still selling and supporting complete bikes, and check whether it uses a Yamaha PW motor.

Prices, availability and Yamaha's plans change, so confirm them with the seller before you buy. Since I haven't ridden these bikes, treat my notes as a sourced summary of other people's tests and read a hands-on review of the exact version you are considering.
