How to turn on Bluetooth on an electric scooter depends on the brand, and the sources I read disagree on the basic method. Some makers say you toggle Bluetooth in the scooter's own settings and then find it in your phone's Bluetooth list. Others say you should pair only inside the maker's app and never through the phone's Bluetooth settings. This page covers both, then how to turn off eco mode on an electric scooter and how to turn on the light on an electric scooter.
I haven't ridden or tested any of these scooters. The steps come from Gyroor (a maker), Levy (a scooter rental and sales company) and Xiaomi (a maker's support pages), and I name which one says what. None of them is a full manual for your exact model, so your own manual wins.

How to turn on Bluetooth on an electric scooter#
How to turn on Bluetooth on an electric scooter, from the two maker and seller guides that cover it:
- Check the scooter has Bluetooth. Gyroor says older models may not.
- Power the scooter on. Levy says to hold the power button until the LED lights.
- Find the Bluetooth setting. Levy says to open Settings on the scooter's display and select Bluetooth, then toggle it on. Gyroor says some models have a separate Bluetooth button, and others put a "Bluetooth" or "Connectivity" option in the control panel or companion app.
- No display? Levy says to check the manual for the button combination.
Whether a Bluetooth icon appears on the display afterwards depends on the model. Xiaomi's support page says its Bluetooth icon lights up when the scooter connects to a phone. Levy's separate pairing guide says many models enter pairing mode automatically if they have no existing connection.
How to connect Bluetooth to your electric scooter#
How to connect Bluetooth to your electric scooter, in the order Levy's pairing guide gives it:
- Charge the scooter above 50 percent.
- Check your phone. Levy lists iOS 12 or later, or Android 7.0 or later, with Bluetooth on, and location services on for Android.
- Stay close. Within about 10 feet (3 m), and turn off nearby Bluetooth devices.
- Install the maker's app and create an account.
- Power the scooter on, then tap "Add Device" or similar in the app and pick your scooter.
- Enter a PIN if asked. Levy lists 0000, 1234 and 123456 as common defaults and says to check the manual, a sticker or the screen. I can't confirm any of those for your model.
Where the sources disagree. Gyroor and Levy's settings guide both describe pairing through the phone's Bluetooth list. Levy's pairing guide warns that for Segway Ninebot you should not pair through the phone's Bluetooth settings manually, and should use the Segway-Ninebot app's "Search My Device" or "Add Device" route instead. I am not resolving this. Follow your brand's app first, and only use the phone's Bluetooth list if the manual says to.
Brand notes from Levy's guide. Xiaomi models use the Mi Home or Xiaomi Home app, Segway Ninebot uses the Segway-Ninebot app and needs activation (until then Levy says the scooter beeps and runs at reduced speed), and Gotrax uses the Gotrax app. Check the app store listing for your exact model, because I did not test any of these.
How to connect your electric scooter to Bluetooth when it won't pair#
If you are trying to work out how to connect your electric scooter to Bluetooth and it won't, the troubleshooting from Levy and Gyroor lines up on the basics:
- Not found. Restart the scooter and the phone, move closer, toggle the phone's Bluetooth, and check location and app permissions (Levy).
- Pairing fails. Forget the scooter in the phone's Bluetooth list, clear the app cache on Android, update the app and phone software, and charge the scooter (Levy). Gyroor adds updating the scooter's firmware and resetting Bluetooth settings.
- Drops out. Turn off nearby Bluetooth devices, move away from 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi routers and close background apps (Levy).
- "Already connected to another device." Disconnect it from the previous phone or owner. Levy says the reset method varies by model, so look in the manual. This matters on a used scooter.
- Connected but features don't work. Restart or reinstall the app, reconnect, and confirm the scooter is activated, especially a Ninebot (Levy).
If none of that helps, Levy suggests a faulty Bluetooth module and says repair shops may quote $50 to $150 out of warranty. That is one seller's figure, not a quote. I wouldn't open a scooter's electronics or battery yourself. Take it to the maker or a shop.
How to turn on Bluetooth on Maxshot scooter#
How to turn on Bluetooth on Maxshot scooter is the part I could not source properly. I could not open the Maxshot manual, so I have no model-specific button, app name or PIN to give you. What I did find is that Maxshot V1 Pro listings describe "app control," which suggests the scooter pairs through an app.
What I would do, labelled as my own approach rather than a Maxshot instruction:
- Find the exact model name on the scooter or order page (V1, V1 Pro and others are different products).
- Open the manual or the app link that came in the box, since the seller's QR code usually points to the right app.
- Power the scooter on, open the app, and follow its "Add Device" flow as in the section above.
- If the app does not list it, use the troubleshooting steps above and contact the seller.
If you have the manual in front of you, it overrides everything on this page. Once you have the right app, how to turn on Bluetooth on Maxshot scooter is the same as for any app-paired model: power on, open the app, add the device.
What eco mode does#
Eco mode is a riding mode, and the sources I found explain the general idea but not the numbers. Levy's modes guide says labels like "Eco," "Normal" and "Sport" exist, and warns that higher performance modes may drain the battery faster. It gives no speed figures, and it says advanced customization may need the app.
Xiaomi's support page for one of its models does not mention eco mode at all. It lists three modes, with top speeds as follows:
- Walking: 6 km/h (3.73 mph in the US version)
- Standard (D): 15 km/h (9.32 mph in the US version)
- Sport (S): 25 km/h (20 km/h in German and European versions, 20 mph in the US version)
Xiaomi adds that connecting the scooter to a mobile device unlocks the maximum speed. That is one model from one maker, so do not assume other brands work this way. My own reading, labelled as opinion: if your top speed seems low, check the mode and the app connection before assuming something is broken.
How to turn off eco mode on an electric scooter#
How to turn off eco mode on an electric scooter is really "switch to another mode," because eco is usually one setting among several. Levy's steps:
- Power the scooter on.
- Find the mode button on the handlebar or display.
- Press it to cycle through the modes. Levy says some need a hold of a few seconds.
- Confirm the new mode on the display.
On the Xiaomi model above, the mode change is a double press of the power button, which cycles Walking, Standard and Sport. Other models differ, and some only change modes in the app. If your scooter has no mode button and no display, look in the manual or the app.
Two cautions of mine. Higher modes use more battery per Levy, so range will drop. If you are new to riding, start in the lowest mode while you learn the brakes. See my beginner guide for that, and how to adjust and change brake pads once your speed goes up.
How to turn on the light on an electric scooter#
How to turn on the light on an electric scooter varies by model, and the sources give two patterns.
Single power-button click. Xiaomi's support page for one model says that with the scooter on, one press of the power button turns the headlight and taillight on or off. A headlight icon on the control panel stays lit while it is on. The same maker's page says its winglights have their own left and right buttons.
Dedicated light button. Levy's lights guide says to power the scooter on, then look for a lightbulb icon or an "L" button on the handlebar, or a headlight symbol or "lights" option on a digital display. It says some models need a long press and others a quick tap, some have a dedicated button for front and rear lights, and some let you change brightness.
If the light will not come on, Levy says to check the battery is charged enough to power the light and sustain the ride, confirm the scooter is on, and check both the front and rear lights. It does not cover fuses, bulbs, wiring or automatic lights, and I won't guess at those. Do not open the scooter to chase a wiring fault. Take it to a shop.
If your scooter has no lights at all, my accessories guide lists add-on lighting options.

The bottom line#
How to turn on Bluetooth on an electric scooter: toggle it in the scooter's settings or pair in the maker's app, and don't assume the phone's Bluetooth list is the right place for every brand. How to turn off eco mode on an electric scooter: cycle modes with the mode button or the app. How to turn on the light on an electric scooter: a power-button click on some models, a light button on others. Your manual overrides all of this, and for more accessories see the accessories guide.
